In addition to GIS and Remote Sensing
(RS) facilities, UALR maintains a National
Geodetic Survey (NGS) B Order Geodetic
Position (Station ROUCH). The
base station is a 12 dual frequency 12 channel Trimble
4000SSi CORS reference station, capable
of tracking L1 C/A code, L1/L2 P-code and L1/L2 full-cycle
carrier. The station is also fully operational during P-code
encryption. The
base station will also broadcast its data via radio modem for
a radius of
10 kilometers from its location at UALR.
The
GIS Lab also uses other products from Trimble, such as
the Total Station 4800, ProXR, GeoExplorer II and Pathfinder
Plus, along with TS Office, Pathfinder Office and
GPSurvey software.
Public access
is available for GPS end users. Data is collected at one
second
intervals, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and then placed
onto a server for downloading. Files are Trimble .DAT and
the international standard RINEX. For mission planning,
an hourly almanac is also available. All of these files
can be downloaded from our FTP site.

Procedures
The reference station
antenna (Station ROUCH) is positioned at:
Latitude 34° 43'
27.77488" N
Longitude -92° 20'
27.06917" W
Elevation 113.2
m / 371 ft (Datum - NAD83 (1997))
The above position
is as of November 3, 1997 as part of the Arkansas HARN project
which took place in September 1997.
IMPORTANT
NOTE:
The UALR base station is an official HARN (High
Accuracy Reference Network) station as recognized by the NGS. This
is the only "community" base station in the state
recognized with this status. As such, if you are using
data from other Non-HARN stations (those not included in
the HARN network adjustment) you may want to use this station's "Superseded
Survey Control" which can be found in full as
described by NGS. You should also note the the NGS does
not recommend superseded values for survey control.
You can
use the files from this base station with post processing
software and correct/modify the projection into whatever
datum you need.
